Curry Anadromous Fishermen

Curry Anadromous Fishermen (CAF) is a nonprofit service organization dedicated to preserving Fall Chinook salmon while supporting future salmon populations for commercial and recreational fishing. Through its operation of Indian Creek Hatchery, CAF partners with ODFW’s Salmon Trout Enhancement Program (STEP) to rear fish, collect broodstock, and educate the community about fisheries conservation. Volunteers play a vital role in hatchery operations, habitat restoration, and outreach efforts, ensuring the long-term health of local salmon and trout populations.

Our Mission

    Habitat Restoration

    Rehabilitate and enhance the natural habitat of Fall Chinook salmon in the lower Rogue River and other south coast streams.

Stocking Arizona Pond, which is conveniently located just 10 miles North of Gold Beach, is regularly stocked with vibrant rainbow trout, providing excellent fishing and educational opportunities for local youth. Various school groups come to visit, fish, and often take their catches home to enjoy a delicious meal!

As the end of the school year is fast approaching, many of you are planning for your future educational endeavors. Curry Anadromous Fishermen (CAF) are currently accepting applications for (3) $1,500 scholarships to be awarded to students that qualify. Qualified students will be attending one of the three high schools or be home-schooled in Curry County.

At Indian Creek Hatchery, (CAF) orchestrates a significant, month-long initiative to ensure that all salmon smolts have their adipose fin clipped, a procedure necessary for tracking and research. In total, approximately 28,000 smolts will be carefully inserted with a coded wire tag, enabling valuable ODFW data collection for various research purposes.
